NONORIENTED SILICON STEEL.
These are silicon electrical steels in which the magnetic properties are relatively the same in any directions of magnetization in the plane of material. These materials are available in FULLY PROCESSED or SEMI-PROCESSED condition.
Fully processed electrical steels have had their magnetic properties completely developed by the steel producer. Semi-processed electrical steels require a final full decarburizing anneal to achieve their full magnetic potential
GRAIN-ORIENTED SILICON STEEL.
These are silicon electrical steels that possess magnetic properties that are strongly oriented with respect to the direction of rolling. These steels are “fully processed” but are generally given a final anneal to eliminate mechanically imparted stresses.
LOW CARBON ELECTRICAL STEEL.
These are cold rolled steels containing relatively low amounts of carbon and silicon. These steels are specifically produced for magnetic applications not requiring extremely low core losses or those applications not requiring the magnetization characteristics of high-silicon electrical steel.
Usually, these steels are given a final full decarburizing anneal to achieve their full magnetic potential.
